From Scenic Painter to Community Favorite: My Journey in Painting
My painting journey began the summer after high school in 1990, transforming college dorms with fresh coats of paint. By the mid-90s, I had expanded my skills, framing custom homes, installing baseboards and flooring, spraying texture, and, of course, perfecting my painting craft. My passion for detail and craftsmanship eventually led me to the TV and film industry, where, by 2005, I had become one of the DFW area’s top Scenic Painters and Plasterers. My work included many exciting projects, with FOX’s Prison Break being the most notable show I contributed to.
While the film industry brought unique challenges and opportunities, the seasonal nature of the work inspired me to apply my skills in a new way. In 2006, I launched my house painting company, determined to bring the same level of precision and artistry to residential projects. The early years were tough. I was new to running a business and marketing, often waking up at 5 AM to distribute flyers with the morning paper and spending evenings learning how to get my website ranked on Google.
By 2011, my hard work began to pay off. What started as a side project became a full-fledged passion. After wrapping up my work on TNT’s remake of Dallas, I decided to dedicate myself entirely to my painting company.
Today, I’m proud of what we’ve built. My wife, Monica, runs the office and handles bookkeeping, and together, we’ve created a thriving family business that serves Flower Mound, Highland Village, Lantana, and Argyle. We complete over 200 jobs a year, each one approached with care and a commitment to quality. While I’ve transitioned from hands-on work to focusing on leadership and customer relationships, I still visit every project to ensure everything meets our high standards.
Our business has grown tremendously, with over 6,000 followers on Facebook and Instagram and hundreds of glowing reviews across the web. I’m grateful to call Flower Mound home since 2008 and to have the opportunity to work with amazing customers in this community.
